After the first working day of the film, one part of the students went to Getliņi. In Getliņi, pupils were introduced to the underlying principles of "green thinking", eco-friendly economic management and the sustainable development policy of SIA Getliņi EKO

There we learned-

The main problems concerning air and water pollution, which required immediate action:

Shallow ground water aquifers polluted, and pollution plume gradually moves to the river Daugava;

More deep drinking water aquifers can become contaminated;

Landfill gas contaminates atmosphere and creates greenhouse effect.

During this the second group of pupils were preparing a flood-safe house.

In Europe and the rest of the world, the temperature is rising due to climate change, the rainfall regime is changing, glaciers are melting, sea levels rising, and extreme climatic phenomena are becoming more common. As a result, the risk of flooding and droughts increase and problems with clean drinking water arise.

Both Latvia and other EU Member States have been hit by severe floods in recent years, causing considerable damage. When living in areas where flooding is a frequent occurrence, architects and builders need to be able to adapt the building structure to the threat of flooding. Therefore, the groups of students working in international teams will try to create a flood-safe house.
