In the beginning -1st activity (06 Oct 2018):

    The team of Greece started the implementation of the project “Trans European Water Sustainability” with a visit to thermal baths of our region. There, the students have been informed by their biologist teacher, Mr. Asikidis Michalis, about the beneficial properties of water in human health, and combining knowledge with fun, enjoyed the warmth of the thermal water by diving in it.

2nd activity (18 Oct 2018):

        THEN, a 5-member group of students visited the local office of the Municipal Water Supply Company. There, they met the manager and the president of the Company. Annia, Emily, Anastasia, Antony and Marilena asked about Veria's drinking water, its quality and the water supplies of Veria city.

3th activity (26 Oct 2018):

     On Friday the 26th of October, the students who will travel  to Turkey, in order to get informed about the water of Imathia and its cleanliness, took samples of water from three different spots of the town: from the small river "Tripotamos", which crosses Veria, from a tap of the town and from the river "Aliakmonas", the biggest river of Northern Greece, which waters the flatland of Veria and the town of Thessaloniki.

   Then, they transferred the three samples to the State Chemistry Laboratory, and the official Mr Pantermarakis cooperated with the five students to show them the way of analyzing the water and promised to send them the results by email.

4th activity (2 Nov 2018):

   On Friday the 2th of November, the students and the teachers visited again the State Chemistry Laboratory, where there is the place of the biological sewage treatment of Veria; there, Mr Mpismpas, official for the sewerage utility of the urban area and for some villages nearby, informed the students and the teachers about the way of collecting the liquid waste of Veria and the ways of reusing the spinoff of the biological cleaning.

5th activity (12 Nov 2018):

On Monday, the 12th of November, the students of the programme"Trans European Water Sustainability" visited a lake in Macedonia. There, after being informed by officials of the local community about the contribution of the lake to the local economy and its use as a place of entertainment, the students checked the cleanliness of its water by analysing it with a simple device proving the convenience of the measurement of the cleanliness of the water.

6th activity (19-20 Nov. 2018):

   From Monday the 19 till the 20 of November, in Veria, Greece, a preparatory visit took place, with the participation of all countries involved in the project "Trans European Water Sustainability": Denmark, Latvia, Turkey, Italy and Portugal. The aim wasto discuss and decide about different issues of the program.  All teachers met and agreed about all the details of the program for the next two years.

7th activity (20 Jan 2019):

    The student team along with their teachers visited river Aliakmonas. The students examined the clarity of the water, while at the same time they used specific methods in order to measure its pH. Moreover, a map of the area was used in order for the students to locate the river in accordance to their perception of the area of Imathia and to follow its route. Consequently, the students realised the importance of the river for the local community and economy. Following that, a local hydroelectric plant became the subject of the students’ curiosity to be satisfied by an upcoming visit.

    The aforementioned results were discussed with the foreperson of a local environmental organisation, Mr. Aslanoglou. He informed the students about the problematic human intervention which includes water pollution coming from local industries and inhabitants, immense transmission of soil from the banks of the river, the government’s disregard, and DEI’s intervention by “creating” lakes that affect the microclimate of the area. He also highlighted the importance of the river for it is a nature reserve of rare birds.

8th activity (27 Jan 2019):

   For their participation in the mobility to Riga, Aimilia, Katerina, Rafail, Nireas and Vagia with their teacher Mr Asikidis visited again the rivers "Tripotamos" and "Aliakmonas" in order to video their water; the produced videos will be used in Riga, Latvia, where they will cooperate with students from other countries in order to produce a video about the water and its sustainability.

9th activity (8 Mar 2019):

   On Friday, March 8, 2019, the pedagogical team and students participating in the Erasmus program visited Mount Olympus and were informed by the Environmental Education Center about the importance of the mountain in the lives of the residents. They were also informed about the rivers and streams that cross it and their value for the conservation of the flora and fauna of the area.

10th activity (18-20 Apr 2019):

   On the 18th, 19th and 20th of April 2019, students of the programme "Trans European Water Sustainability" with other students of the school and accompanied by their teachers visited two rivers of exceptional beauty of northern Greece: "Vikos" and "Aoos". There, after walking in their gorges for two days in a row, they took samples of water in order to send them for analysis and ascertain their cleanliness.

11th activity (2 May 2019):

   Following the visit to Tripotamos part of the team went for a walk along the banks of a smaller river crossing the city of Veroia. The students were informed about the importance of the river for its springs supply the area with water. Furthermore, in the past, people used to wash their clothes and covers and supply their homes with drinking water. Small hydroelectric plants along with craft industries would also benefit from it. The students were amased by the beautiful landscape and the flora.  

12th activity (16 May 2019):

   The 5th Senior High School of Veroia pedagogical team and its students who participated in the ERASMUS+ project named  “Trans European Water Sustainability” presented their 9 month work, activities and progress in order to inform the general public of their local town. Thus, on Thursday 16th May 2019, during an event organised by the Directorate of Secondary Education in Pauleion Cultural Centre (Medresse Mosque), the team exhibited their actions to the local school community (students and teachers in Veria).

13th activity (20 May 2019):

   A few days later, May 20th, the students of the school presented their work to their fellow students. Additionally, the former informed the latter about their experience regarding their participation in the program.

and finally,   14th activity (24 June 2019):

   Finally, on Monday 24th June, an event which was organised by the school and the board of the students’ legal guardians took place in the school’s library. Students and teachers shared with their audience their feelings, experiences, collaboration and bonding process with their fellow/partner students from different countries during their visits to Usak, Turkey, Riga, Letonia and Torre del Greco, Italy. Eventually, parents and legal guardians were asked about their experience with their children participating in the ERASMUS+ program, leading to a very useful discussion.
